According to the definition of the gifted child in the Hong Kong Education Commission Report No. 4(ECR4), the gifted child is a child who has outstanding achievements in one or more aspects which are shown below:
- assessed to have a high level of intelligence;
- has strong potential in a particular subject
- has independent initiative thinking: ¾ able to make a lot of innovative & detailed opinions
- has strong talent in painting, drama, dancing, music, visual and performing arts
- has strong peer leadership talent: ¾ to drive others to accomplish common goals; with high ability
- has outstanding mental activity: ¾ has excellent performance or outstanding talent in athleticism, mechanical skills or coordinated physical skills
